GENERAL INFORMATION
THE INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE (ABBREVIATED AS IAS) IS THE ADMINISTRATIVE CIVIL SERVICE OF THE GOVERNMENT . INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE OFFICERS HOLD KEY POSITIONS IN THE UNION GOVERNMENT, STATE GOVERNMENTS AND PUBLIC SECTOR UNDERTAKINGS. INCLUDING DEVELOPMENT FUNCTIONS. AT THE DIVISIONAL LEVEL, THE IAS OFFICERS LOOK AFTER LAW AND ORDER, GENERAL ADMINISTRATION AND DEVELOPMENT WORK. IN IAS CADRE YOU CAN BE SUB-MAGISTRATE, DISTRICT MAGISTRATE, JOINT SECRETARY, DEPUTY SECRETARY ETC. UPSC CONDUCTS COMBINED CIVIL SERVICES EXAM, WHICH INCLUDES INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE (IAS), INDIAN FOREIGN SERVICE (IFS), INDIAN POLICE SERVICE (IPS), INDIAN REVENUE SERVICE (IRS), INDIAN RAILWAY TRAFFIC SERVICE (IRTS), ETC. THE SERVICES ARE DIVIDED INTO ALL INDIA SERVICES AND CENTRAL, SERVICES. THE CENTRAL SERVICES ARE FURTHER DIVIDED INTO GROUP‘A SERVICES AND GROUP ‘B’ SERVICES.. HE IS THE SENIOR MOST CIVIL SERVANTS OF THE COUNTRY. THE GENERAL NOTION IS THAT IAS IS A DIFFICULT EXAMINATION& PAPERS ARE QUITE COMPLEX &TOUGH.THA T’S NOT TRUE. IT’S MEREL Y DIFFERENT EXAMINATION. ALL IT REQUIRES IS PROPER EXAMINATION TEMPERAMENT & ANALYTICAL APPROACH TOWARDS THE SUBJECT. THE EXAMINATION IS CONDUCTED BY THE UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION.
