Ubuntu / Debian in any android phone

This is a Tutorial to install Ubuntu/Debian in any Android mobile.
* Installing Ubuntu or Debian Linux does not format your Android OS or change anything to your phone. The Operating Systems run over the underlying Android OS which continues to function as normal
Choosing your Linux OS:
There are few things you must be aware of before installing Ubuntu/Debian on youe Android Phone
Ubuntu does not support earlier ARM CPUs like the ones used in the Motorola Cliq. Samsung Galaxy Fit (ARMv6), Samsung Galaxy Y, etc.
( Reason behind this is , Your Android OS must support loop devices.  Most newer Android smartphones/tablets come with this support so we can mount our Ubuntu image as a loop device.  If not, you will either have to build your own kernel with support for loop devices or you can try an aftermarket ROM for your phone as most aftermarket ROMs come with support for it. )
You need at least an ARMv7 CPU like the kind found in the Motorola Droid, Samsung Galaxy S,HTC EVO 3D, Sony Experia Play, etc. most newer phones (Hummingbird, Snapdragon, Tegra2, etc.).So you can Install Ubuntu if you have  ARMv7 or newer Processor.
If you have ARMV6 or any other moderate Processor don’t be sad, because Debian supports the CPU on practically all Android devices, so if you prefer Debian, or you can’t run Ubuntu, choose the Debian download link.
* If you’re not sure what CPU your device has, look up your device on http://pdadb.net/, click the link under CPU, and read the line for “Supported Instruction Set(s)”.
e.g. : My Phone which is a ” Samsung Galaxy Fit”  uses ARMV6 Instruction Sets.
Pre-Requirements:
Hardware Required:
an Android Phone
SD Card with more than 2GB of free Space
Android root environment:
Most important! Your Android device should be “rooted” because you need root access to run Ubuntu/Debian off your Android. If your device is not rooted you have to root your device.
Linux Operating System:
Download suitable OS from the following Link:
Applications Required:
BusyBox Installer
A terminal emulator like Better Terminal Emulator (Recomended) or Terminal Emulator.
Optional Apllications:
androidVNC
ConnectBot
Procedure:
Step 1:
(Mount the SD card on your computer.)
Extract the .tar.bz2 file you downloaded to your SD card. You should now have a folder named “linux” on the root of your card.
(Unmount the SD card.)
Open Busybox Installer, and install Busybox.
Open Better Terminal Emulator,  and install Better Terminal Emulator.
Step 2:
Open your terminal emulator. (If using ConnectBot, connect to ‘local’, not ‘ssh’.)
Run the following commands:
su
( If Prompt for Superuser Request then allow )
cd /sdcard/linux

sh install.sh
If you don’t see any errors, Linux is now installed.
Step 3:
Open your terminal emulator.
To start a chroot session
su
linux

To start the SSH server
su
linux ssh
You can then use ConnectBot (SSH: user@localhost) on your device, or any SSH client to connect to your device. See Login Information, below.
To start a VNC session
( Firest you need androidVNC to be installed , then type the following in terminal )
su
linux vnc

The first time you run VNC, it will prompt you to create a VNC password.
You can then use androidVNC (host: localhost port: 5901), or any VNC client to connect to your device.
Configure The VNC App as follows:
Note: The default desktop environment is icewm. If you wish to replace it, for example, with LXDE:
Run the following as root in Linux:
apt-get autoremove icewm- lxde+
Secure your Log in Password:
Please remember to change these passwords if you are planning on using the SSH server. Malicious people can do Very Bad things to your device if you don’t.
There are two accounts included in the images:
root
Password:cheesecake
user
Password:dessert
After a successful connection to host you will  be able to use Ubuntu / Debian in graphical interface just like in your PC ! It will keep your Android OS as it is and just run in the upper layer over it
Linux vs Linux Terminal Emulator :
Terminal Emulator only Emulates Linux terminal, but after Linux Installation you can get full features; more than just the limited commands which runs on Android shell rather than Linux Shell.
Please Leave your Feedback and Queries below. Thank You

Gaming PC within Rs. 45000

If you are in search of a gaming computer within Rs 45000 then you are in the right place. If you are a professional gamer then you may ignore this post and for you specially another post is coming up. If money is not a factor then I must suggest you to go for alienware desktops. They are the best in the market. I do not prefer alienware laptops as they are bulky and moreover gaming is considered to be less locomotory so desktop is much better than a laptop. If you want to buy alienware desktop you can check this link.
If money is a factor and you want to squeeze the value out of every penny then you may choose to assemble your desktop. Its not rocket science. Its very easy and self doable. If you need help regarding that, feel free to ask in comments, I shall help you with that.
For the aforesaid budget the best computer configuration which you can build is an Intel i3 processor based PC. Many, in fact most of the gamers, prefer an AMD based PC and I can not deny that at the same cost you will get a more powerful processor from AMD but if you are looking for hassle free PC experience then go for Intel processor based PC. Or if you are from Greenland, Siberia, Canada, Kashmir where the temperature is always below 10-15 degree Celsius then AMD processor will help you (pun totally intended). I am from India and I have a terrible experience with the fastest processor in the world (of 2012) which is an AMD. It used to average at 60 degree Celsius and on load reach upto 80-90 degree Celsius. My room is the coldest one in my house but I never required a heater in my room during winters. Thanks to the processor. Now don’t ask me about my experience during summers. ðŸ˜›
Its your computer so decision is yours. Here is the computer configuration which you are seeking.

whatsapp in computer

whatsapp oN computer

Today I have found out how to use whatsapp from computer. As I was going through the update log in my Xiaomi MI3 phone and was checking out the auto update list which starts updating once I turn on the wifi, I saw that on the whatsapp’s update page ongoogle apps store it is highlighted that there is a feature which will enable you to use whatsapp in computer. I was amazed by this as I hardly find time for replying my friends on real-time and on several occasions I forget to reply at all. This is very embarrassing. Now that I have seen this new feature I quickly set everything accordingly and it worked flawlessly. If you are looking for the same just follow some simple steps. Let me walk you through the process of how to use whatsapp from computer.
  • First and foremost you have to update your Whatsapp to the latest version. An update is there of around 19 MB for Android smartphones and 17 MB for the Windows phone. Your version must be latest in order to use this feature.
  • After update is complete open a Google chrome tab in your PC.
  • Visit web.whatsapp.com and you will see a web page with a QR Code.
  • Open the updated whatSapp on your phone and navigate to menu / whatsapp web. You will find a QR Code scanner ready.
  • Scan the QR Code on the webpage and your desktop will be activated and connected to whatsapp. You will get all the whatsapp notifications and messages along with contact lists on desktop.
The only way to log in via PC is by scanning the QR Code as whatsap cant send you any verification SMS to the desktOp. The webpage will work nicely as long as the cellphone is powered on and is connected to internet. Failing which it will not work. The technology behind whatsapp is very simple. It has a queue per user, not a server which hosts your inbox contents permanently. The messages sent to a user are queued for delivery and once it is delivered it’s flushed out and is no more available on the server.  That limits the possibility of using whatsapp via multiple clients. That’s why it needs to sync with your phone, and if your phone dies, it will either result in a broken experience for the phone, or overhead on the whatsapp queues which will abuse the server and lower the efficiency and hence hamper the experience.  Too techy to comprehend ? Its simple. Keep the phone charged up and connected to internet to use whatsapp from computer.

Moto G to Android Lolipop

If you want to update Moto G to Android Lolipop in India, then follow the simple steps discussed below. The OTA (over the air) update for Moto G first generation as well as second generation rolled out today. The indian motorola devices had Android kitkat pre installed and this OTA update brought some significant changes in the form of Android Lolipop. The new cool mobile OS from google. In Android 5.0 Lollipop Google has made a lot of changes. Both with the user interface as well as the feel, animations, super cool effects, and the size of icons. They are naming the UI as MATERIAL DESIGN. Everything is more simple, bold, easier to understand, and extremely smooth. The contact list looks nicer. The icons look different and good. There is also a nice game given along with the logo animation which can be found at SYSTEM > ABOUT > ANDROID VERSION (press this option 5 times). This game is very simple but damn frustrating and addictive. Overall, the update looks nice and great. This is one of the biggest UI redesigns in recent Android history.

Steps to Update Moto G to Android Lolipop in India

  • Moto G Android LolipopConnect your phone to internet. Preferably WiFi or 3G.
  • Open settings and go to ABOUT PHONE
  • You will see the SYSTEM UPDATE option in the list. Click it.
  • Wait for sometime and then after the update is downloaded you will get an option INSTALL NOW. Click it and then the update will be applied.
  • There will be a reboot and you will see an “optimizing apps” screen. It will take a moment and after it is done you will get the fresh OS in your phone.
Nerds may skip this post. This tutorial is for those who had never done anything like this and are afraid to proceed. Let me assure you that this step is 100% failsafe and unless you are extremely unlucky this will not create any problem. Only problem may arise is due to slow internet connection but like i said its better to use WiFi or 3G for the aforesaid purpose.

tIPS to save more battery life with iOS8

You must be accustomed to the attractive features of iOS8 and also the repugnance of how these features drain out iPhone battery life. Here are some effective ways to guide you how to save more battery life with iOS8.
  • Check and restrict the apps that drain the device’s battery life. With iOS8 you can see a detailed breakdown of which apps are exactly consuming maximum power of your device. All you got to do is go to Settings>General>Usage>Battery Usage.
  • More apps these days can track your device location and these are among the biggest battery drainers. In order to ensure that you enable Location Services only when necessarily required,go to Settings>Privacy>Location Services. Some apps now have “While Using” option unlike earlier when you could only turn Location Services on or off for apps. For instance, when using Facebook, it will let you see nearby friends and post by location, but won’t let the social network send you push notifications of nearby frienda when the app is closed.
  • The Share My Location option that enables you to share your current location with your contacts exhaustively drains battery as it constantly requires to be updated. To conserve battery, turn it off by going to Settings>Share My Location when not necessary.
  • Enabling Handoff allows you to seamlessly move between your Apple devices. Incase you do not plan to switch back and forth much, you can turn it off. Go to Settings>General>Handoff & Suggeates Apps.
  • Suggested Apps appears on the same screen as Handoff suggesting apps based on your location which can make for unnecessary push notifications that arw known battery drainers. When on the subject, one can limit what other apps use push app by going to Settings>Notification.
  • The Spotlight search function that appears when you swipe down can now draw its search results from around the web in your phone. You can modify the Spotlight to save battery in case you do not require that diligence of a search engine by going to Settings>General>Spotlight Search and deleting the sources you do not want to append in your searches.

Tips for Installing Windows 8/8.1 on a USB

With the New Windows OS launch round the corner i am trying the explore the never before features and the improved features of the new windows 8. come join me and see for yourself!!..

Here are the steps i used to install windows 8 on a San disk USB 2.0 Pen drive. i suggest that you should try these steps carefully, though the whole procedure do not involve and formatting of the main HDD and hence no data loss.

Objective: To install and boot windows 8 from a 16 GB USB Pend drive.

First of all the requirements:

  1. A windows 7 system.
  2. Windows 8 Release preview image file.(download it from Microsoft site here)
  3. Microsoft ImageX tool for windows.(download it from Microsoft site here) ImageX is a very tiny application which comes as part of WAIK (windows automated installation kit). download the latest iso file from the link here. its is a big image file but worth the download because we will use ImageX.exe for several different purposes.
  4. Winrar (to extract files from windows iso file, you may use virtual drives as well)
  5. Pen drive (at least 16 GB USB 2.0, i recommend USB 3.0 for better performance)

Step1: Download Window 8 Release preview image file(.iso).
Step2: Install winrar on your system (if not already installed)
Step3: using winrar extract the install.wim file from Windows 8 Image(.iso) file. you will find it within the source folder.
Step4: using winrar extract the WAIK image(.iso) file and extract ImageX.exe from the same.
Step5: create a new folder in C drive or any other partition and copy both install.wim and  imagex.exe in that folder, give folder some good name.

now we have all the tools to start the process.

1. Preparation

First we will prepare the pen drive for installation, to do this open CMD (command prompt) with Administrative privileges and run the following commands.
note: this is clean all the data from pen drive, be sure to backup it first.
  • Type  Diskpart on command prompt
  • Now type List volume, this will show all the partitions and drivers attached to pc. find the drive letter corresponding to you pen drive(in my case it is was F:)
  • type select volume F
  • now type clean (this will clean pen drive completely, deleting all partitions)
  • now type create partition primary
  • now type format fs=ntfs quick
  • now type active
  •  the step above automatically assigns drive letter to pen drive, but if it doesn't then you the next command.
  • assign letter="f"
  • now type exit
our pen drive is now ready for installation

2.Installtion

Now using the same command prompt got to the folder that we created earlier wherein we have our install.wim and imagex.exe file.

now from the command prompt type the following commands.
imagex /apply install.wim 1 f:\

now patiently wait for process to finish up. it might take around 20-25 minutes on USB 2.0 drive and around 10 minutes on USB 3.0 drive. you will be able to see the progress in the command prompt window.

3.Enabling windows on pen drive

once the above steps has completed to 100% progress. Type and run the command below.

bcdboot f:\windows /s

Now is time to restart PC and Boot from the windows 8 installed on the pen drive.

Imp Note: you might need to enable pen drive as the bootable device from your system BIOS.

You will now be greeted with windows 8 logo and windows will take same time to detect computer hardware and install necessary drivers.
