VLSI Jobs are a very costly affair, which require lot of faith in the people who are taken in. The answer to your question depends upon various factors such as Type of Projects you have handled so far, any experience, and yes your college too.
MOst of the people coming from avg and below avg and sometimes good colleges too work for a less salary for two to three years and jump on to take bigger roles after they get experience. Many Companies are there in Bangalore (My best bet), and Hyderabad.
