PAN
PAN (Permanent Account Number)
PAN is a 10 digit alpha numeric number, where the first 5 characters are letters, the next 4 numbers and the last one a letter again. These 10 characters can be divided in five parts as can be seen below. The meaning of each number has been explained further.
1. First three characters are alphabetic series running from AAA to ZZZ
2. Fourth character of PAN represents the status of the PAN holder.
• C — Company
• P — Person
• H — HUF(Hindu Undivided Family)
• F — Firm
• A — Association of Persons (AOP)
• T — AOP (Trust)
• B — Body of Individuals (BOI)
• L — Local Authority
• J — Artificial Juridical Person
• G — Government
3. Fifth character represents first character of the PAN holder’s last name/surname.
4. Next four characters are sequential number running from 0001 to 9999.
5. Last character in the PAN is an alphabetic check digit.
Nowadays, the DOI (Date of Issue) of PAN card is mentioned at the right (vertical) hand side of the photo on the PAN card

Passport to be Verified in 3 days
The time-frame for verification of passport applications is expected to come down further in Cyberabad, what with police employing tablets and an online procedure using software Polydyne.
The first-of-its-kind project in the country was unveiled by Regional Passport Officer Ashwini Sattaru on Monday. She said the Ministry of External Affairs had set a target to issue 1.25 crore passports, and it could be achieved if the police were to make use of modern technology. A total of 70 tablets were provided to policemen.
Inspector-General (Intelligence) B. Shivadhar Reddy said the project was being taken up on a pilot basis in Cyberabad. Explaining the new procedure, Cyberabad Commissioner C.V. Anand said passport applications received from the passport office would be forwarded ever day to the field-level (verification) officer through the software. “The official will check the application on his tab, contact and meet the applicant, verify his credentials and send a report online to the passport verification cell,” he said, adding that through the new method, the time frame for verification will come down to just three days

Gogle is launching a new online store today to showcase “all the latest products made with Google.” The new Google Store, instead of the Play Store, will now become the central spot for buying Google-centric hardware like Google’s own Nexus phones, Android Wear and Nest devices, Chromebooks from Google and its partners, as well as accessories, cases, keyboards and chargers.
The Play Store remains the hub for buying content for these devices, but the hardware from Google and its partners will now only be available in the new Google Store. For the time being, Google will offer free shipping for all purchases, too (but only if you choose the slowest shipping option).
If you made any hardware purchases in the Play Store, all of that information will be automatically transferred to the Google Store.
